Every player must play exactly two (2) matches per Round
No player may participate in more than two (2) matches in a single Round
The first team to win 3 matches wins the Team Tie.
If the Round ends in a 2â2 draw, a Final Fire (first to win three points)Â will determine the winner.
Game Details:
Each match is played for exactly 10 minutes.
Rally scoring is used: a point is awarded after every rally, no matter who served.
When the 10-minute timer ends, the match stops immediately.
The team with the higher score at the buzzer wins the match.
If the score is tied at the buzzer, a One and Done rally will decide the winner. The team that wins this single point wins the match!
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):
How do we know who serves? If your score is even, player on the Right will serve. If your score is odd, player on the Left will serve.
What if the other team stalls the serve? Each player has a maximum of 10 seconds to serve. If the serve is not made within this time, the opposing team is awarded the point.
Are there any change courts? There are no breaks or court changes during each 10-minute match. However, teams switch sides after the first two matches in a Team Tie.
Teams will stay on the same side for the Womenâs Doubles and Menâs Doubles.
Then, before Mixed Doubles 1 and 2, teams switch sides.
Do we have to keep the same Mixed Doubles pairings throughout the whole tournament? No, you may change your Mixed Doubles pairings after each Team Tie. The only requirement is that every player on your team plays in two matches per Team Tie.
What happens if a player is late or doesnât show up? If a player scheduled for a match fails to step foot on the court after 1 minute of the designated start time, the team is considered to have forfeited the match, and the win will be awarded to the opposing team.
Who makes the line calls? Players on the court are responsible for making most of their own line calls. The referee will oversee and make calls on service foot faults, Non-Volley Zone (NVZ) foot faults, short serves or any other NVZ violations. If an opposing player or team disagrees with a line call, they may request the referee's input only if the referee clearly saw the ball and is in a position to make the call. If the referee did not see the play, a point replay may be granted.
Can we call a timeout during the match? No, timeouts are not allowed during the match. The 10-minute game clock runs continuously and will not stop for any reason. The game continues until the 10-minute timer runs out!
What if my partner gets injured during the 10 minutes? If a player gets injured during the match, the 10-minute game clock will not stop; there will be no medical time-out. In this case, the team must make an immediate decision from the following options:
Continue playing with the injured player, if possible.
Forfeit the match.
Continue with one player: If the injured player cannot continue, the match may proceed with just one player against two! The game will continue under the same rules until the 10-minute timer ends.
What if a rally is still in play when the 10-minute timer ends? If a point is still being played when the buzzer sounds, the rally will continue until it ends naturally. If the rally ends in a tie score, a One and Done deciding point will be played to determine the winner.
How are standings determined in the group stage? Standings are based on each teamâs winâloss record during the round robin. If two or more teams are tied, the first tiebreaker will be their head-to-head results during the group stage. Additional tiebreakers may be applied if necessary (e.g., total points won or point differential).
